Working with Refugees and Immigrants
Slavic AOG, Sydney, Australia 2003-2008 As an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God in Sydney, Australia, as a part of my part-time position, I provided Pastoral care and counseling for refugees, immigrants, families, individuals, and couples affected by civil war, low self-esteem, mild depression, anxiety, PTSD, and terminal diseases (e.g., cancer). Non-profit Humanitarian organization “Good Samaritan” - Belgrade (Serbia) 2001-2002 As a part of my full-time role, I was administratively responsible for conducting all required paperwork to be able to import humanitarian aid from England, Germany, and Australia. This humanitarian aid was intended for the refugees from Bosnia, Croatia, and Kosovo. To perform this task, I successfully used my English speaking and oral skills (Translation of documents from English to the Serbian language as well as e-mail communication with humanitarian workers from England, Germany, and Australia). At the same time, I was responsible for sending all required reports to the Serbian Government. Evangelical Church – Belgrade (Serbia) 1991-1993 As a member of the Evangelical Church in Belgrade, I was working with the refugees from Bosnia and Croatia, affected by civil war and crisis in former Yugoslavia. In order to perform all tasks successfully, my role was to organize the team of volunteers, to drive humanitarian aid, visit refugees in refugee camps in the different parts of the country, and to help refugees to adapt to a new environment.
